Be Merry Gift Bag

Hello everyone, Bridget here for this months Design Team blog post. Well, my first question is WHERE has 2016 gone? My second is, are you ready for Christmas? I am not..yet but decided to make this gift bag to kick start off my silly season. 

I used a few sheets of the Be Merry Classic papers from the 12x12 pad, some items from the ephemera pack and some of the beautiful silver flowers from the range.

Right, let's jump right into it..

Take 2 sheets of the same 12x12 paper from the Be Merry Classic paper pad

Trim away the top strip

Score 2” from the top and then at 3” from the outside edge of the remaining 3 sides.

Fold over the 2” strip and apply some tape runner underneath to hold the flap down

Fold all 3 remaining sides to get a nice crease. Cut away the 3”x3” squares at the bottom of one of your pieces. On the other piece use your scissors to cut a line from the bottom of the paper to where the horizontal 3” score line meets.

Apply glue to the 2 flaps you have created and stick them down to create the one side of your gift back. Glue the bottom flap from the other piece to the inside of this half of your gift bag. 

Apply some wet glue to each of the 2 sides on one of the pieces and glue the sides together.

Once the base of your bag is assembled punch 2 small holes for the ribbon handles.

In the Ephemera pack you will find the star I have used as a gift tag. Punch a hole in it. 

Cut 2 pieces of matching ribbon, each piece needs to be 12” long.

Feed the ribbon through the tag then through the holes in the gift bag, making knots on either sides to secure.

For the Christmas tree, cut 4 pieces of patterned paper of your choice. 6cm, 8cm, 10cm & 12cm.

Fold the patterned paper as per the photo below. Once you have it in a Triangle shape fold two of the sides towards the centre. 

Glue each layer inside the previous one, starting from the smallest layer to the largest, allowing equal spacing between each layer.

Under the tree I have created a small “pot” out of paper for the tree to stand in and have added the Merry Christmas tag from the Ephemera pack. Adhere to the gift bag using 3D foam tape. I added some of the silver bouquets to the top of the tree to act as the star.

Ornamental Affair Wedding Layout

Hello everyone, it's Bridget here again with my November Design Team post.

I had a chance to play with some of the beautiful dies from the new Ornamental Affair Collection. This range of dies is so delicate and elegant. I had to make something pretty with it and decided to do a layout using some photos from a dear friend's recent wedding. 

I chose to use plain white cardstock from Ultimate Crafts and create patterns & textures just using the dies. 

I started off die cutting a whole bunch of Japer Doilies and stuck them around the page as a border.

Once the glue had dried I flipped the page over and trimmed off the bits that were hanging over the edge.

I used 3 of my favourite photos and matted them using white and a soft grey cardstock just to create a bit of contrast.

The English Rose flowers needed a bit of "bling" so I made a mist using the Anna Griffin Pigment Powders, mixed with some water and painted on the flowers. 

 Next I cut a whole lot of the delicate tiny butterflies from the Floral Silhouettes die from the Backgrounds Gallery 2 Collection. These I glued just behind the body to allow me to bend up the wings for some dimension.

All that was left for me to do was add the title, glue down my now dried English Roses and punch some leaves out of the same cardstock to finish off my all white wedding layout.

This one is super easy and quick to make thanks to the beautiful dies from Artdeco Creations.

Ooh La La Lever Card

Hi everyone, it's Bridget here with my Design Team post for November..I am still trying to figure out where this year has gone!

Today I have made a Step Lever card. I found the tutorial on a card making site I have followed for many years.

I have made the card to their exact measurements and the card came out perfectly & is a good size too. Go grab your Ooh La La stash and play along.

Step 1
Cut two 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" pieces of cream cardstock
Score the first piece of cardstock at 4 1/4" and fold in half. This will be the card itself. On the side that is the front, cut out a square window, 1” from all 4 sides.

Step 2
Score the second piece of cardstock at 4 1/4" and 6 3/8”. Go in 2 1/8” from the left edge and score down to 1” from the top and up to 1” from the bottom.

Note:
This will be the inside of the card.

Step 3
To cut the “lever” that will fit through the card front “window”, go in 1” from the left edge and cut a slit that starts 1” from the top and goes down to 1” from the bottom.

Step 4
Cut from the top and bottom ends of that slit over to the 2 1/8” score line. This produces the “lever” that will fit through the front window.

Step 5
Fold on all score lines. Folds should be valley/mountain/valley folded.

Step 6
Add adhesive to the “backside” of the left and right panels of the cardstock you just scored and glue it inside the card. The “lever” tucks inside of the front “window”. If this is a tight fit, trim a sliver off the top and bottom of the lever so that it will move freely through the window.

Step 7
Cut a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of patterned paper for the front of the card. Cut in 7/8” from all 4 sides to make the decorative layer for the front of the card.

Step 8
For the inside of the card, cut 3 strips of patterned paper 1 7/8” x 5 1/4” tall. Cut a fourth piece 3 1/8” wide by 5 1/4” tall.
Adhere two of the 1 7/8” pieces to cover the two right panels inside the card. The third will be used to cover the left side of the panel after you shape it.

Step 9
On the remaining 1 7/8” x 5 1/4” piece, cut in 1” from the RIGHT side, 7/8” from the top and 7/8” from the bottom. Make a vertical cut that connects these two cuts, so that the remaining piece of patterned paper looks like a “C”. Adhere this to the LEFT panel of the inside of the card.

Step 10
On the 3 1/8” x 5 1/4” patterned paper, cut in 1 1/8” from the LEFT side, 7/8” from the top and 7/8” from the bottom. Cut down from the top and up from the bottom to meet these two cuts and remove those two small squares of paper. This creates a shape that will cover the “lever” part of the card.

Adhere inside the card on the remaining panel.

Step 11
Once the main component of the card has been assembled die cut all your embellishments to decorate the card. I used the Elemental Corner Set from Ultimate Crafts (Ooh La La). The Tessa Doiley Die Set from the same collection created the centerpiece for the front of the car, along with the hand cut butterfly from the patterned paper.

Peacock Feather Sympathy Card from Ooh La La

Hello everyone, Bridget here again for another project to hopefully inspire you. 
This one is for the cardies out there. 
I have used the absolutely gorgeous stamps and dies from the Ooh La La range.

Today’s offering is a quick Sympathy card to make for when you need one in a hurry. Let’s get started.

For the peacock feather cut a piece of cardstock 3”x 6”. Cut a piece of the double sided adhesive paper from Couture Creations to the same size. Stick the adhesive sheet to the cardstock and remove the top tape revealing the adhesive. Cover this with the superfine glitter.

Now that you have created your own ultra sparkly glitter paper, cut one peacock feather die.

The next step is equally easy.

Using your non-stick craft mat directly apply ink from 3 shades of blue you want to use for your “watercolour” background. Using an aqua brush randomly apply the colours to a 5 3/8” x 3 7/8” piece of watercolour paper. Set aside to dry. 






Add more water to the remaining ink on the mat and rub a piece of seam binding in it to create a matching piece of ribbon for your bow. Set aside to dry.

Cut a piece of vellum 1” x 6” Using an embossing ink pad, stamp the “With Sympathy” stamp on it and heat emboss it with the Silver Super Sparkles embossing powder. Take care not to overheat the vellum with the heat tool to avoid warping. Cut a fishtail on the right hand side of the sentiment.

Cut a piece of teal/turquoise cardstock to 5 ½” x 4” and stick the watercolour piece to the front of it.

Place the vellum to the front of the card, placing tape on the back of the turquoise cardstock to hide it.

Tie a bow in the ribbon and place it on the bottom left corner of the card, using tape on the back of the card to adhere it to. Stick this piece to the front of the card. 





Lastly, using the Turbo Precision Glue Pen apply glue to the pack of the peacock feather and glue it to the front of the card.

And there you go, your card is ready to go.

Vintage Layout with Ooh La La range by Bridget

Hello crafty people, 

Bridget here with a single layout done with the fabulous Ooh La La range from Ultimate Crafts.

The range lends itself to vintage pictures and the photo of my mother as a toddler works perfectly with the colour scheme.

I have supplied the measurements etc below should you want to make a layout like this on.

To start off we used the Chocolate cardstock from Ultimate crafts as the base page.

To create the layers we cut as follows:

I trimmed 1/8” off each of the sides of the Baroque Bronze patterned paper and glued it to the Chocolate cardstock.

The next layer measures 8 ¾” wide x 7 ½” high using Wrapped in Gold patterned paper

Onto this, center a piece of Chocolate Swirls measuring 7 ½” high x 6” wide:

Create the photo mat 4 ¼” x 6 ¼” from Butterflies & Lace

These papers are all from the 12”x12” Ooh La La paper pad (ULT157600)

Before you stick the photo & photo mat down on the layout, place a piece of the lace across the center of the page and add a piece of the luscious velvet ribbon above it. Once this is done stick down the photo & photo mat.

To colour up the flowers, I put some water in a mister bottle, added some brown ink from a re-inker and then added some Anna Griffin Mix & Match Pigments-Brown. This made the most beautiful shimmery brown colour. Use this to mixture to colour up one of the Cottage Pollen Flowers.

Lightly sponged the same brown shimmer onto the edges of Paper Magnolias flowers.

While the flowers are drying make another batch of the Anna Griffin Mix & Match Pigments-Brown but do not add brown ink, this should make a lovely gold shimmery paint which must be applied to one of the beautiful heart shaped doilies.

Set aside to dry.

Die cut the following dies: (see which ones I have used from the photo above as the dies come in sets)

I die cut them from plain white smooth cardstock as I wanted to ink them to get a slightly mottled effect.

Using the Happy Lives stamp set, cut a piece of Butterflies& Lace 2 1/8” x 1 5/8” and stamp the “happy” sentiment on it using black ink. Glue this to the ornate piece from the Intrinsic & Ornamental Set Die (see photo above)

For the metal butterfly, I used glue in all the wing recesses and then added Anna Griffin Fine Glitter Collection-Copper

Use the photo at the top of this post to place all the elements on the layout. Add some final touches using the beautiful pearls included in this range.
